Terrorism watchers, and who I watch

As citizens of this great nation, that is- the United States, we (or at least most of you) are happily ignoring the state of the rest of the world, and I don't blame you. Whether this is by choice or just your lifestyle it really doesn't matter much to me for I realize not everyone is like me and enjoys reading the RSS feeds of the many counterterrorism, security, and intelligence blogs out there. And for the likelihood that this majority is you I would like to point your attention to a few good websites out there and the current tone of their publishing.

The Counterterrorism Blog: This is first and foremost THE blog of choice for a broad perspective on the international scale. From FARC to Hamas and Ireland in between, The Counterterrorism Blog is a must read for the latest in commentary, expert opinion, and general knowledge.

DEBKAfile: This is a Middle East centric blog wither the tag line of "We Start Where The Media Stop." I'll admit I am a little skeptical on what I read from this website if only for the fact that I can't verify its authenticity, nor have I really tried to do so- maybe I'll do that this week. None the less it's a good site for an understanding of the locally infested areas within the Middle East.

Security DeBrief: [From there site, for who says it better.] Security DeBrief is a blog dedicated to homeland security, national security, intelligence and law enforcement that provides context to the debates, policies and politics that are playing out in Washington, D.C. It's contributors are seasoned experts whose backgrounds range from high-level government and policy expertise to in-the-field veterans of national security matters.

Homeland Security Watch: Though this site doesn't really offer one an overview of national Security, it does offer one a significant understanding of the state of ouw own Homeland Security affairs. From budgets to commentary, and general information this site is a significant force in a larger understanding of how safe/unsafe we really are (it's better to be wearing rose-colored glasses when thinking about the actual 'state').

The NEFA Foundation (Nine-Eleven Finding Answers): This one for me is all over the board. It evaluates information from here and there. Often quoted from The Counter Terrorism Blog it's a great source of information.

Not a long list, but it's a good list to start with.
